I love this author. Working through all his books. All at once, his books are about nothing and everything.

This is a very entertaining and educating book. The author has the skill to take you to the Spain of Andulucia and really see what it is like to be a subsistence farmer. There is a lot of down to earth good humor and some great very real characters.

Chris Stewart is a very entertaining writerIntroduces the reader to the beauty of Spain, the culture and food and vegetation. Love his books

Having had a break of a couple of years between the first two books it was great to go back to El Valero for a visit and especially to read about the experience in Tunisia. Thank you for continuing to expand my cultural understanding of other peoples and the use of my native English language. You are a veritable Stephen Fry. Your story telling brings with it the urgent message of personal eco responsibility wrapped in delightful humour. Trust you survive the economic downturn in Spain with self-sufficiency.

Have read previous 2 books in the series and really enjoyed them all. This one might be the best. Many adventuresand laughing out loud moments. I like the way this guy doesn't take himself too seriously and laughs at himself,although on a couple occasions he seemed to be getting a tad grumpy as he got older. Oh well,me too!

I started with his 1st book "Three ways to capsize a boat". I haven't been able to stop -- He is hilarious and he has a very unique way of describing people and events. I think his books can be read in any order but to get the true feel for the story of his life it really helps to read them in sequence. You wont be disappointed.

After "Driving over Lemons" and "A Parrot in the Pepper Tree", this book deserves more than 3 stars - but less than its predecessors. It gives us a even more background, stories that didn't make the first two books, and it shows us how the young couple that came to live in an old farmhouse on the wrong side of the river in the middle of nowhere, evolves to be an acclaimed author with his wife and teenage daughter, a beautiful house with swimming pool and still, new stories of life in the South of Spain every day.

This was the required material for my Operating Systems class. At first I didn't think much of the book as the first chapter was not particularly helpful. However, the later chapters are very good and contain a lot of good information on the overall implementation of the FreeBSD operating system. Having finished my Operating Systems class, I can say that this book was a great help.I also think that its value extends past being a book on the FreeBSD Operating System. The kind of topics the book covers can be applied to other operating systems. It's actually one of the few textbooks that I fully intend to keep on my shelf.

A very good book for those who want to learn advanced concepts in OS. Since it is a open source the book is very useful in understanding how they look like. The paper quality is too good, which makes u read non stop. i luv reading this book. Price worth it. A good buy.

This book was extremely difficult to read. The way that the book first describes a kernel, for example, is a part of the system that runs in protected mode. It's like when defining what a fish is, you say that it lives in the water and has got fins, instead of actually telling me what it IS. This book might be decent if you actually already know operating systems, but for someone to use it in a classroom is just cruel. Even my own OS professor said that when he had to use this book in college, he hurled it against the wall because it was so difficult to read (and why he would subject his students to the same torture is beyond me).Operating systems in itself is not a difficult subject to learn; the trick is knowing definitions and where things are in an operating system. I ended up giving up reading on this book in favor of Wikipedia. To those of you who want to study operating systems on your own, I would strongly recommend against this book, as it would discourage most people. To those who had to buy this book for a class, I feel for you. My recommendation is: WIKIPEDIA. I studied off Wikipedia to understand general concepts (using the professor's lecture slides as guidelines to understand the scope of the class), and I ended up getting an A+ in the class.

Very critical and well written and researched review. Gives you a good summary and understanding of Dr Gundry's book.Dr Gundry's book itself is "interesting", it has a lot about healthy living, explaining our genetic/evolutionary tendency to obesity, the value of avoiding preservatives, antibiotics, intermittent fasting etc, things that have been discussed endlessly elsewhere and that he cannot claim originality for. However, Dr Gundry does nor prove his main theory that "lectins are bad", beyond anecdotal evidence and "physiologic reasoning" without hard data and the summary points this out very well. Also interesting that Dr Gundry claims in the book that he has been author or coauthor of 300 scientific articles in peer reviewed journals (i.e. journals respected in the scientific community), however, all these articles have been about cardiovascular surgery and not a single one is on nutrition, so Dr Gundry can certainly not claim to be a scientific expert in the field of nutrition. Interestingly, a big part of Dr Gundry's diet is the necessity to eat tons of vitamins and supplements all of which are conveniently available on his website costing you between $80 and $300 monthly.Again, great summary. Dr Gundry: not convincing. Keep eating your fruit and veggies!

I bought the book - despite it's poor reviews - to get a quick overview of the Plant Paradox. It did give me that; however, the book reads as if "thrown together" by someone for whom English is a second language. The author, who accusses Dr. Gundry of not fact-checking should have fact-checked his/her grammar, spelling and syntax. This is a quick, informative read but gets an F for readability.

This books till interesting facts how food and medicine affect our very existence. I cannot put it down! "You are what you eat!

This was written with so many grammatical errors and typos that it discredited all the information contained therein for me. I can hardly believe something like this went to publication. The Summary Analysis simply provided credibility to the author of The Plant Paradox and gave no credibility to the authors of the Summary Analysis.I do not recommend this at all.

The book gives a decent summary of The Plant Paradox and discusses the pros and cons of Dr. Finder's theories well. However, this book is so full of spelling and grammatical errors it's difficult to get through. It seems they didn't feel like using the spell check feature or have another person read the book before printing it. Although this book brings up some valid arguments both in support of Dr. Gundry's ideas and reasons for skepticism, not having it properly edited as well as the fact that an author is not given other than the publishing company, makes it less credible. In addition, some of the reasons given of exaggeration of Dr. Finder's theories are ridiculous. They claim that the reason Japan has healthier people is because they have single payer health care (and not because they have a healthier diet with virtually no processed food) is ludicrous. However, he/she does site various studies and articles to support his/her own claims. I'm the end, I will not be purchasing Dr. Gundry's book because of this analysis.

This book is garbage. Do not recommend purchasing this book. Doesn't tell you what to avoid eating except leptins. You have to research leptins on your own. Not buying that fruits and veggies are bad for health. Looks like there is nothing to eat

The research of the history of beer in America and the details on how beer has evolved since Goose Island’s founding is incredible.While there are many great takeaways, even the people who are purely anti “Big Beer” can’t deny Goose Island’s impact on the craft beer industry. Just seeing the people who have come through Goose Island and the breweries those people have built or impacted in some way - New Glarus, Perennial, Off Color, Fremont, Side Project, Firestone Walker, Revolution - tells you that Goose Island has had a positive impact on American beer.And as a marketing and PR person, reading about behind-the-scenes strategies was an added benefit. Was not expecting to get some great marketing takeaways when I decided to purchase this book.Thanks for writing this Josh. It was great to see the history of how everything has evolved. I absolutely flew through it and I’m already recommending it to friends.

If you are even marginally interested in the current/recent dynamic between the independent craft beer business and the big boys this book is an absolute must read. The book is very well researched and yet is an easy read. I follow the business a bit but I learned a lot about the inner workings. This is a subject worthy of a back story and the author does it beautifully. He also does not take sides. After reading it is clearly up to the reader to reach their own conclusions about who is the good guy. I won't spoil the book; but if you love beer you'll love this one!

Being a home brewer with a long time interest in beers, I've had some general ideas of how the industry works and it's primary players, mostly formed by bits and pieces of news and other scattered information. This book paints a very clear and comprehensive picture of who, what, where, and reveals more of the stories and motivations behind the snippets that have been presented to the public. If you consume and care about beer, this book will give you a greater appreciation for what you are drinking and how it got to you. Even if you don't have any interest in beers, you will find this book to be a captivating narrative about small business, big business, and all the interesting characters and events that turned a simple shelf of Bud Miller Coors into an entire aisle of Bud Miller Coors with a multitude of different labels.

I loved reading about the history of the craft beer revolution from Goose Island’s perspective in the new book from Josh Noel. John Hall’s journey, Greg Hall’s rise, the early brewpub, and the story of Bourbon County Stout. It’s all so fascinating.What I enjoy the most is the incorporation of craft beer’s historical cast of characters from around the world that each offer a bit of color to an already enthralling tale. To see familiar names and what they have to say about Goose Island gives its story even more depth.All of it is presented in an informed and objective way by Noel, who does a good job of providing well-researched facts and great details that help paint a picture of the time, place, and people behind Goose Island’s ascendancy.The work Noel put in to find out the real story and tell it in a way that anyone could understand deserves recognition. The author lets us as the reader see the people behind the story for who they really are and made them relatable humans. A great read!

How did they go from being one of America’s best breweries to being a brewery prominently featured in every Buffalo Wild Wings and airport bar in the world? You’ll find out in this excellent book. It’s a tragic tale of a brewery becoming what they always hated.

The book is split into 2 parts that tell the rise of Goose Island and then the fallout from the selling of the brewery to ABI and how it effected the employees of Goose Island and the craft beer landscape overall. The author has a great way of giving the reader the relevant information without laboring a point. He is also adept at showing the events in the book from multiple sides: the Goose Island employees, the Halls, ABI executives as well as influential folks in the craft beer world. A great read and I highly recommend it.

This was a real treat to read. As a highly critical beer drinker who was a patron at Goose Island from the beginnings, Josh Noel's carefully researched account captures the essence of the rise, expansion, and sell off of many of the most recognized crafts beers. It is told in the setting of the beer industry, however it is as much a chronical of the consolidation of industry in the world economy. This is much more than a book about beer. I especially enjoyed how Noel discusses the forces and setting for the craft beer revolution, and the history of bland American lagers. It is entertaining, thorough, and written with a colorful tone. One of the best non-fiction works I have read in years.

I'll be the first to admit that I don't know that much about the beer business, and my taste in beer itself would hardly be called adventurous. Also, usually, I read novels, but I picked this book up on the recommendation of a friend. Turns out it's a fascinating and well-told story. It seems strange to call a non-fiction book like this a "page turner," but that's what this book is! I highly recommend it.

This was a very cute and simple book about the five senses. My 5 year old found it too simple though. This book would be great for a younger child that does not know about the senses at all. The illustrations are adorable and the writing is easy to understand. Because my son was already familiar with the senses I would use it in a test type of way by leaving out one or two of the words in the sentence for him to finish. He thought that was fun for a little bit, but then got over it quickly haha.

The book was well written with nice pictures. I guess that my comments are more about how the book is marketed. It lists 4-8 as its target audience. As a parent read book, this should be listed as more of a 2-3 year old book. I don't think that this would be my choice of a learning to read book. I thought that the book was about science. On that note, my barely 4 year old daughter had already learned about smelling, seeing etc. I had hoped that the book would have taken senses to another level, but it didn't. I would strongly recommend this book to parents of younger children, but it was regretfully a one and done for my daughter.

My 2 1/2 year old loves this book right now. It goes simply through each sense and then gives examples of the senses. Love how it ties in the senses to being aware.

This book is excellent, even for a preschool aged child, as it really breaks down the five senses in a basic way. An example is provided for each sense and then, the book explains that sometimes senses are used at the same time- examples are provided for this concept, as well! I used it in my preschool class when our theme was "The Five Senses!"
