I just finished Mr. Becker's Wood's Tempest and Backwater Tide back to back (although in reverse order). Both 5 stars, Steven effortlessly intertwines characters and plot lines between to two series. Everything you want in a Florida Keys thriller/adventure, fast boats, beautiful reefs, crystal clear blue water, buried treasure and bumbling bad guys. Tempest picks up where Tide ends and the transition is seamless. Mac pieces together the clues left to him by Mr. Hunter and his wife at the end of Tide. Mac and his mis-fit side-kick Trufante take you a wild search not only for the buried treasure but also for the mastermind behind the murders Kurt and Justine just helped solve in Tide. Vivid diving scenes set against pristine coral reefs bring you into the action as if you are aboard the boat and along for the ride. I highly recommend the entire Wood's series as I have been Becker fan for years. The combination of Mac and Kurt will lead to many more adventures I look forward to reading. Now time to read Shifting Sands, the third book in this wonderful "trilogy". ~ttewks1 #helpsavesharks
I think everyone's imagination is stirred when pirate treasure is mentioned. Even, I think, armchair treasure hunters like me. Each book in this series, it seems, has a different treasure in it. Where Mac goes, trouble follows. If Tru is with him, it is double the trouble. So, get your diving gear ready and jump in!!!
To the next installment of this trilogy. Two things I want; Bugarra's nuts in a terminal twist and what's under the Sumter? Or is that the next Kurt Hunter?
Interesting look back into pirate action. Enough action and a bad current day treasure hustler. Plenty of boating and seamanship. Good descriptions.
Kudos to Steven Becker for his creativity and imagination.... Mac Travis is the ultimate character.... this one blew me away
Living in south florida makes it such a fun series
sometimes hard to follow plotline
Starts out grabbing the reader from the first page. The only negative is that this is the last book in the series of Mac Travis in the Florida Keys. I cant wait till book 9 comes out!!!
